Quick Progress
I guess I've gone past just swatching my new hopalong project.
Lace Shawl
Just winding this ball took about 15 minutes of constant winding.
I selected three lace patterns from Barara Walker's second treasury and did the math and before I knew it, I had finished 37 rows of my new lace stole.
The bottom few rows in light gray are just a few rows of stockinette that I'm using as waste yarn/provisional cast on. On each side, there will be a border of more solid lace, and in the center, a looser, more open lace pattern.
Here's a closeup.
I'm really loving knitting this. The yarn is soft and gorgeous, the color differentiations are perfect for this pattern, and the pattern stitch is interesting, but not overly complex.

I love my laceweight too - although, I'm not sure mine took 15 minutes to wind - we may have to have a wind-off when we both buy our next skeins - because I would definitely knit with this again. Love your color, maybe I'll ask Carol about dying a double, since I'm contemplating once again attempting the entrelac lace stole that was in Interweave a few years back, the Garden Path.

That is gorgeous! I love working with her laceweight. Right now I'm about halfway through a scarf in her Seattle Mist color, and I'll post a picture as soon as I figure out how. I don't think that will be my hop project- I've got 2 shawl ideas kicking around in my head, it just depends on if she can get a special-order color done in time.
Joe, are those your glasses? I'd like to see a photo of you wearing them. I bet you look very distinguished.
You guys & gals are such talented knitters; it's really inspiring to see your creativity and skill in action.
hi, your hopalong looks like fun, but there appears to be no yarn available at either site to purchase and participate. will that be changing, do you think?? thanks!
I really want to Hop Along, but there is no yarn for sale!!! Please help--I had to wait for payday (tomorrow--once a month is terrible when yarn/knitting opportunities pop up!).
Can not get to PhilaPA for yarn for at least two weeks--any suggestions?
I've emailed Carol about the availability of BBF, and either she or I will keep you posted. I know that she's dyeing as fast as she can!

Wow, it's gorgeous so far. Me and lace are still getting to know each other.
Don't despair -- I am dyeing several skeins a day and listing at least 3 or 4 new ones each day. I do each skein individually by hand, so it doesn't go as fast as possible. Send me a private email and give me a sense what you're looking for; also, while there isn't any BBF on Rosie's website, if you call the shop and ask, they can tell you waht they have and do a mail order via Paypal or credit card. 215.977.9276
